Should I attend my New Jersey Home Inspection?

Should I attend my New Jersey Home Inspection?

You are not required to attend your home inspection. However, if at all possible, you should be present! I always recommend to my clients to follow me around the home while I inspect it.  It gives you (client) a chance to ask how things work and it lets me explain what is defective and how it can be corrected. Also during this time I like to give maintenance tips on how to prolong the life of certain items in the home. It also makes reading the inspection report a lot easier. If you are not able to attend the entire inspection, you should at least try to show up at the end of the inspection. This will allow you to meet with your Home Inspector and discuss his findings. Although you will receive a detailed report, it is always easier to understand a problem if you can look at it while it is being explained.

The inspection is also a great opportunity to become familiar with the home’s various systems, locations of shut off valves, electrical boxes, etc.
